The USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture's Veterinary Medicine Loan Repayment Program helps ensure that an adequate supply of trained food-animal veterinarians is deployed in identified shortage areas. The program incentivizes food-animal veterinarians to serve in veterinary shortage areas in exchange for assistance with veterinary education loan repayment.
