LIFESTOCK IN GHANA WITH US STUDENTS
Working with local veterinarians
Breck Peterson and Andrew Wall, both rising third-year University of Georgia veterinary students, were sponsored by LifeStock International for an eight-week experience in global animal health in Ghana. Hosted by Dr. Anthony Akunzule, they worked closely with regulatory authorities, vaccinating animals in the northern part of the country, where veterinary care is scarce, visiting diagnostic laboratories and the two schools of veterinary medicine, touring the major slaughter plants, and interacting with regional veterinarians throughout the country.
Throughout, Breck and Andrew were immersed in Ghanaian culture, and learned how the people of that country live day-to-day, the challenges they face, and the efforts being made to build a stronger Ghana.
On their return, both Breck and Andrew stated their continuing commitment to global animal and public health, and appreciation for the opportunities to learn about how these systems operate in another country.

4 Students Document Their Overseas Projects
In the summer of 2023, LifeStock organized funding for veterinary students to immerse themselves in the work of global animal health. The 4 students from Texas A&M University, selected by Dr. Jeffrey Muesser (a LifeStock Director), worked in regulatory veterinary medicine in Ghana and South Africa.
