FADDL

We are now serving as the implementing partner for a program connecting the Foreign Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (FADDL) with diagnostic and research institutions across the world. New funding was provided to FADDL, which is the lead US laboratory for diagnosis of  transboundary animal diseases (TADs). This program is being led the very capable Bonto Faburay, DVM, MS, PhD, head of the FADDL Scientific Liaison  Services.

TADS

Many countries

This funding will allow FADDL to engage in parts of the world where TADs are endemic, or emerging.  Through applied research and diagnostic programs, laboratories will be guided in expanding their capacity and sharing samples with FADDL.

One-year Projects

Funding will be allocated for one-year projects, with clear milestones and deliverables. For the first year, 9 institutions were chosen, largely on the basis of Memoranda of Understanding and Material Transfer Agreements already signed with FADDL.  These institutions are:

► Laboratory for Emerging Infectious Diseases, University of Buea, Cameroon

► Department of Livestock Services, The Gambia

► West Africa Livestock Innovation Centre, The Gambia

► Central Veterinary Laboratory, Accra, Ghana

► Laboratoire National de L’Elevage et de Recherche Vétérinaire,  Senegal

► African Centre of Excellence for Genomics of Infectious Diseases, Redeemer University, Nigeria

► National Veterinary Research Institute, Nigeria

► College of Veterinary Medicine, Central Luzon State University, the Philippines

► Makerere University Central Diagnostic Laboratory, College of Veterinary Medicine, Uganda
