Dr. Hailat has assembled groups of government and private veterinarians, as well as local farmers, from the three regions in Jordan - Northern, Middle, and Southern. With these groups, he has conducted awareness training programs, and is actively collecting samples for laboratory diagnosis.
The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan sits at a critical crossroads in the Middle East, bordering Syria, Iraq, the West Bank, and Saudi Arabia. There is great potential for “informal” border crossings, making Jordan a bellwether for detecting disease occurrence in the region.
